OCR AS / A Level - which course should I buy?

The H046 AS Only course has now been discontinued in Smart Revise as we have better options for students and teachers.

Purchase options

If your students are studying AS H046 only, will sit their AS exams in June 2026 (typically year 12) and will not proceed to full A level, you should buy:
H046-H446 - OCR A Level Computer Science Examination Summer 2026
If your students are studying AS H046 and will sit AS exams in June 2026 but will go on and study full A level H446 and sit those exams in June 2027 (typically year 12), you should buy:
H046-H446 - OCR A Level Computer Science Examination Summer 2027
If some students in the class will continue to full A level but not others we still recommend buying the 2027 course. They may change their mind after results day! If not and you really want a refund for the difference of £3.90 we'll sort that out.

If your students are studying full A level and will sit their exams in June 2026 (typically year 13) you should buy:
H046-H446 - OCR A Level Computer Science Examination Summer 2026
If your students are studying full A level and will sit their exams in June 2027 (typically year 12) you should buy:
H046-H446 - OCR A Level Computer Science Examination Summer 2027

Why the change?

  1. Students who studied AS level and then went on to full A level lost their progress when they transitioned from an AS Only course to a full A level course. This is now prevented by students being on a combined AS and/or A level course.
  2. It is now £2.60 cheaper per student (over the 2 years) when compared to purchasing vouchers separately for both year 12 and year 13.
  3. Above all, it's what most teachers have been asking for.

How does a combined course work in practice?

  1. The topic filtering has been extended from 20 to 64 topics. This offers much more granularity but has also enabled different topics for H046, H446 and both.
  2. The 1.2.3 Software development Testing topic has a minus symbol (-) indicating it is only suitable for AS level students. (This content is covered in the project for full A level).
  3. The topics with a plus symbol (+) indicate that they are for full A level only. E.g. Pipelining+.
  4. The topics with no symbols are suitable for both levels of study.
Use the topic filtering to select the appropriate content for your students.
