Can I change to a different course once my students have started using Smart Revise?

At the end of the academic year, teachers often reflect on whether the course their students are following is the most suitable for them and may consider moving to a different exam board.

It is possible to have different year groups studying different courses in Smart Revise  e.g., OCR J277 for Year 11 and Edexcel 1CP2 for Year 10.

Some centres also consider swapping the course their students are studying before the end of the series  for example, following OCR J277 in Year 10 but swapping to Edexcel 1CP2 for Year 11.

If you choose to swap course before the end of the series, we will gift you the equivalent number of vouchers for a new course for the same series, equal to the number you have purchased for the old course.

However, although many of the questions may be similar and there is a lot of overlap between the content of the courses offered from different exam boards, they are different courses nevertheless. Therefore, your students will need to start again with zero data in Smart Revise for the new course.

Typically, this means:
  1. All mastery progress for Quiz will be lost.
  2. All RAG rating and definitions in Terms will be lost.
  3. All Advance question answers will be lost.
  4. Teachers will have two mark books: one for the original course and one for the new course.
  5. Tasks for an old course cannot be copied or transferred to the new course.
Providing the old classes are not deleted, the data is effectively archived, and students can hide the old course on their dashboard.

How to move to a new course before a series is complete

Steps for teachers:
  1. Add the new course to your dashboard by selecting Add new course.
  2. Select the appropriate new course – remember to select the correct series.
  3. Select the new course tile on your dashboard.
  4. Make a new class by selecting Make a new class.
  5. Note the class code and provide it to your students.
  6. Contact us at admin@craigndave.co.uk with clear instructions detailing the old course and series you are swapping from and the new course and series you are swapping to. After receiving your email, we will gift you the new vouchers.
Steps for students:
  1. Select the Hide course tile icon in the bottom-right corner of the old course tile.
  2. Select Join a class from your dashboard.
  3. Enter the class code provided by your teacher.
Final steps for teachers after students have joined the new class:
  1. Select the new class.
  2. Select More actions > Allocate all vouchers.
  3. Additional teachers can now be approved to join the class as co-teachers.
  4. You may not have automatic access to student content for the new course. Please contact us if you need to be able to view the new materials in student mode.
You are now ready to start using the new course.
