For linking to our knowledge videos, we strongly encourage you to use the URLs of the pages on our video index site:
Student Stream Courses. This will ensure you are always watching the latest version of a video. Unfortunately, YouTube does not have the facility to update a video. That means when we make changes to a video, the URL also changes. The page URLs on our Student Stream are static, and have the most recent YouTube video embedded. However, this will not be a complete solution if your school blocks YouTube.
Whitelist URLs
You will need to ask your IT team to whitelist the URLs generated by YouTube. The easiest way to do this is to use a YouTube URL extractor. Due to restrictions on your domain you will probably need to do this on your home PC or ask your IT team to do it for you. This is how we do it:
2. Once installed and enabled, that will give you a new "crab" icon next to your browser address bar.
3. Navigate to the YouTube playlist you need:
- GCSE (J277): OCR Specification Order - YouTube
- GCSE (8525): AQA Specification Order - YouTube
- GCSE (1CP2): EDEXCEL Specification Order - YouTube
- IGCSE (0478 | 0984): CAMBRIDGE Specification Order - YouTube
- A level (H046-H446): OCR Specification Order - YouTube
- A level (7516-7517): AQA Specification Order - YouTube
4. IMPORTANT: Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the playlist and keep scrolling until you get to the last video. The webpage will need to download more data if there are more than 100 videos. If you don't do this you will not extract all the URLs.
5. Click your "crab" extension icon and select "Clear Data" (if enabled) followed by "Extract URLs".
6. Use the Export CSV button to export a list of video titles and URLs.
Update your URLs every year
As specifications evolve, errors are identified and we learn more from examinations the videos are also updated. Unfortunately that means a new URL for a video. If you are using our
Student Stream Courses with YouTube unblocked that won't be a problem. You will always have the latest video with nothing for you to do. If not, we recommend generating a new list of URLs before you start teaching the course each year.
Alternative options
Our videos were once hosted on ClickView but this is no longer the case. You can purchase the videos as a downloadable zip file. We charge for this because we want to discourage schools from doing it. Hosting locally means we don't benefit from the Google algorithms recommending our videos to other students and teachers and we can't update them. However, if this your only option here is where to buy them:
Videos - Craig 'n' Dave.
Are the videos free with a Craig'n'Dave crew membership?
No. Although they are free on YouTube, they are not free to download or included in a membership. Primarily because we want to discourage schools from hosting them locally.
Time2Code
Time2Code videos are now hosted on Tella so you may need to whitelist this site too:
