We provide a number of ways for teachers to track the performance of their class, this article will be updated as well roll out new features.
To access class analytics
First select the course you are interested in from your home page and then select the class you are interested in. You will then see this screen:
To access detailed analytics click the button in the top right titled "Analytics".
We currently have four different analytic reports:
Changing topic filters on the right will alter the report to provide analysis for just those topics.
Usage report:
This report provides you with details of how your students are using the system.
The active InfoPoint at the top of the report shows the number of students who have revised at least one day in the time period selected on the filter.
Attempts: This is the number of questions a student has answered within the time period selected on the filter. Please note, if a student has answered the same question more than once, it will still only count as a single question.
Days revised: This is the number of different days a student has revised within the time period.
Last revised: This informs you when the student last revised. This is not affected by the filter.
You can filter the report by Name, Attempts, Days Revised and Days Since Last Revised by using the first sorting drop down.
In this report you get an overview of how well your students are doing.
The coloured bars show you how many questions a student has:
The numbers in the coloured bars refers to the number of questions in each category.
At the end of each bar it the students accuracy. This is the percentage of questions asked which were got right when asked the last time.
At the top left of the report is a circle which shows you at a glace the average accuracy for this class.
You can filter the report by Name, Mastered, Correct Twice, Correct Once, Incorrect, Number of Questions and Accuracy using the first sorting drop down.
Question Analysis report:
This report provides you with analysis of the top 10 best and least understood questions.
Working out how well your class understands a question could be done a number of different ways. Our algorithm works in the following way based on the last answer each student gave to a question to give you as view of their current understanding:
Questions which have now been answered by any students are filtered out ("I don't know counts as an answer) so that the report is still useful during early uptake and to help you identify areas where students are actively answering incorrectly (as opposed to not getting that far in the course).
Each question tile shows the question text and the number of students who have attempted the question at the top of the tile.
We then show a breakdown of how the question has been answered with the first answer in green text always being the correct answer.
The next four answers in red text are the incorrect answer options associated with that questions.
The coloured bars who you how many students have:
Note that the bar for the correct answer is always broken down into the different master levels (green, yellow, amber) whilst each incorrect answer has its own red bar.
You can see which student gave which answer by hovering or tapping on each bar (where the number is greater than zero)
The correct answer bar is further split into mastery levels, each of which has its own student list, so clicking or tapping on each of the mastery sections will display a student list for that mastery level.
Class Matrix report
This report provides you with an overview of your student's strengths and weaknesses in each topic.
The InfoPoints at the top of the page show you at a glance the overall accuracy of this class and percentage of the course they have mastered.
The values are calculated as averages of all students scores across the topics currently active in the filter.
Accuracy
Accuracy is calculated as the percentage of questions in a topic which have been answered correctly the last time it was asked. For this report, questions have have not been answered are considered to have been answered incorrectly so you have a reflection of the true percentage against the total available.
Mastered
A student who has answered the same question correctly each time they are asked it three times or more without getting it wrong in between is considered to have mastered a question.
If a student answers a previously mastered question incorrectly, that question is no longer considered to be mastered by that student and the mastered count is reset on that question for that student.
Topic columns
Each active topic in the filter as a column in the report.
In the column header under the name of the topic we show the average accuracy and mastery of your students for that topic.
Student rows
Each student has a row which shows their data across the topics.
The Accuracy and Mastered columns show each students average Accuracy and Mastered values across all active topics.
For each topic, we then show the accuracy percentage for that student along with the number of questions the student has answered in the topic out of the questions available.
If a student has not answered any questions, we show a "-", this is to help differentiate from students who have answered questions but have 0% accuracy.
To help identify areas of strengths and weakness, cells are coloured according to the accuracy values:
No questions attempted: Grey
0-19% : Blue
20-39%: Red
40-59%: Orange
60-79%: Yellow
80-100%: Green
